7/21/2023 0 Comments Amp world pierson![]() ![]() ![]() because I have put so much money into it. I'm actually removing the Pierson name from the amp and replacing it with a vintage nameplate from the National Cash Register Co. My Wife said it was the biggest waste of money in my 35 years of playing the Blues. Mine sounds great when it works but it just hasn't worked very much. I would never part with a great amp if it didn't have any problems. I have asked myself why? if Pierson makes great amps, do I see them for sale. I am disabled and on a fixed income so it will be awhile before I can take it. As soon as I save enough money I will bring in for repair. It sounds like it's going to launch into space as soon as I turn it on. For six months the amp was great but now a new problem has arisen, popping, crackling and humming. Although Pierson never spoke to me again after this and never answered my e-mails. Pierson initially refused to be cooperative with the guy but soon relented. He contacted Pierson who was not very happy that someone else was picking apart his faulty work. He had to add a ground wire to the speaker and shielding to the amp. These problems were causing wild oscillation and making the amp useless. He also found improper wire lengths leaving wires touching other components and causing them to pick up electrical signals. There were so many bad joints that the entire amp had to be soldiered. ![]() What he found was that the amp had serious grounding issues. I readily agreed and took it to an experienced guy who is familiar with vintage amps and especially 5E3 circuits. Pierson said it was probably a cold soldier joint and asked if I had a local amp guy because it would be foolish to send back to him 2600miles one way for a bad joint. So I bought an upgraded P12N Jensen and installed it in the amp and had the same problem. I plugged into my Egnater cab and it worked fine. I asked if the speaker could be bad and he told me to try plugging into an external cab. Pierson said to try new tubes so I bought all new ones and had the same problem. Couldn't use the amp, and it had never even left my house. However, after 30 days the amp began crackling and was overwhelmed with static. I wrote them in the first 30 days of owning my brand new amp. I have read great reviews, and on the Pierson web-site, two of the great reviews are mine.
